21-year-old boy from Assam, Neeraj Bishnoi, is the creator of the Bulli Bai app. He was arrested by the IFSO unit of the Delhi Police’s Special Cell on Thursday.

The ‘Bulli Bai’ app on open-source platform GitHub was used to upload the photos of Muslim women without their consent for a virtual ‘auction’.

One of the woman filed a complaint at the Cyber Police Station in southeast Delhi, after news of the Bulli Bai app came out.

She claimed that her photo had been uploaded by Twitter handle @bullibai_ and others. An FIR was cautiously registered.

Twitter currently suspended the accounts involved in the Bulli Bai case and this contentious  app was taken down from GitHub.

Neeraj Bishnoi told the police that 'The GitHub app had been developed in November 2021 and finally updated the next month'.

He further said-'The Twitter account was created on December 31. He created an account @Sage0x1 to tweet about the app. He was constantly monitoring updates on social media'.
