She is a right-handed middle-order batter and occasional right-arm leg-break bowler. Raj led India in both Test and one-day international cricket and is the captain of the women’s national cricket team.

Mithali Raj started playing the game at the age of ten in her Tamil family in Jodhpur, Rajasthan. Mithali’s father is Dorai Raj, an Indian Air Force Airman (Warrant Officer), and her mother is Leela Raj. Raj was born on 3 December 1982 into a Tamil family.
In addition to her studies at Keyes High School for Girls, she studied for the intermediate level at Kasturba Gandhi Junior College in Secunderabad. In addition to coaching cricket, she began playing the game as a child with her elder brother.
