About Personal life of Nooyi

As a devout Hindu who follows her religion’s teachings and is a vegetarian, Indra married Raj K. Nooyi, president of AmSoft Systems, in 1981. Together they have two daughters and lives in Greenwich, Connecticut. According to Forbes magazine, she is ranked as the third most powerful mom in the world.

Indra’s older sister Chandrika Krishnamurthy Tandon is a businesswoman and a Grammy-nominated artist, while her aunt is South Indian Carnatic musician Aruna Sairam.

Awards Won by Nooyi

In 2008, Nooyi was elected chairwoman of the U.S.-India Business Council. She is a member of the Board of Directors for USIBC, an organization with more than 60 senior executives representing a cross-section of Amerienterprisesrise.

It was reported that Nooyi was named one of America’s Best Leaders by U.S. News & World Report in 2008, and that she was named CEO of the Year by Global Supply Chain Leaders Group in July 2009, and that she was named one of “The TopGun CEOs” by Brendan Wood International, an advisory firm.

Fortune magazine ranked Nooyi number one on its annual list of the Most Powerful Women in Business for 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2010. She joined PepsiCo in 1994 and was named CEO in 2006, replacing Steven Reinemund, becoming the fifth CEO in the company’s 44-year history. Before becoming CEO, Nooyi served as President and Chief Financial Officer, and she was also named to PepsiCo’s Board of Directors. Between 2000 and 2001, she served as Senior Vice President, and Chief Financial Officer of PepsiCo.

As PepsiCo’s Senior Vice President, Corporate Strategy and Development from 1996 until 2000, and as PepsiCo’s Senior Vice President, Strategic Planning from 1994 until 1996, Nooyi has directed the company’s global strategy for more than a decade and led its restructuring, including the 1997 divestiture of Tricon, now known as Yum! Brands. Tricon included Pizza.

It was Nooyi who was responsible for acquiring Tropicana in 1998 and led the acquisition of Quaker Oats Company in 2001, which in turn resulted in Gatorade. The company’s $3.3 billion acquisition of Tropicana was opposed at first by PepsiCo executives and Wall Street critics: Tropicana held an important share of the chilled orange juice segment, which was the fastest-growing segment of the juice industry.

In a radio interview, Nooyi stated that PepsiCo is getting ready to launch snacks according to women’s preferences, as well as differences in the way men and women consume snacks.
