Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, who is campaigning for green hydrogen as a transportation fuel, stated that India must become self-sufficient in terms of petrol and diesel importation. Speaking at an occasion, Gadkari expressed sadness that certain nations use earnings from the sale of gasoline and diesel to fund terrorism. He also added that green hydrogen outperforms gas and diesel.

The transportation industry is undergoing significant transformation. We want to establish a country that is not reliant on imports of petrol and diesel, but rather exports fuel,” said the road transport and roads minister, adding that this was a patriotic viewpoint.

On Friday, Nitin Gadkari, Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, stated that a dozen alternative energy sources, including biodiesel, natural gas, ethanol, methane, propane, electricity, and hydrogen, are being researched to future power automobiles. He projected that ‘Green Hydrogen’ would be the future fuel.

He told a gathering of women entrepreneurs in Shamshabad on ‘Driving Forward Women Entrepreneurship’ organized by FICCI Ladies Organization (FLO). Hyderabad Chapter that India must ultimately be led in research and innovation for these alternative fuels and generate and outsource them profusely.

Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari arrived at Parliament House on Wednesday in a hydrogen-powered Fuel Cell Electric Vehicle (FCEV), signaling a reversal in the Center’s policy, which has previously supported standard battery-powered electric cars, or BEVs.On Wednesday, Gadkari’s office tweeted on the microblogging platform Koo: “Union Minister Shri @nitin.gadkari Ji visited Parliament House today with Hydrogen-based Fuel Cell Electric Vehicle (FCEV).

While driving a car powered by Green Hydrogen emphasized the need to spread knowledge about Hydrogen, FCEV technology, and its benefits to assist India’s hydrogen-based society. Gadkari stated earlier this year in Goa that he will begin using a car that operates on green hydrogen as an experimental project. He said that Indian Oil Corporation had guaranteed him a supply of green hydrogen for this purpose.

Gadkari’s Campaign On Using Green Hydrogen As Alternative Fuel

Green hydrogen is created from water and used to power vehicles. The government is also focusing on manufacturing hydrogen from organic waste, Gadkari said, emphasizing that green hydrogen is less expensive than gasoline. Gadkari has supported the use of alternative fuel cars.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi outlined intentions to establish a comprehensive National Hydrogen Energy Mission at the 3rd Re-inVest Conference in November 2020. The year before, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman suggested starting a Hydrogen Energy Mission in 2021-22 to generate hydrogen from renewable energy sources. The Ministry of New Energy and Renewable Energy issued a statement last month that released a 13-point Green-Hydrogen Policy outlining the various incentives and methods for producing green hydrogen.
